A Frozen Slice of Laramie

The one good thing about virtual school is that you can do it on vacation. My kids and I spent last week in southern New Mexico. It was eighty degrees there, so I packed shorts and sandals and nothing else. Packing light is the only way I like to pack.

I regretted that decision on Sunday. We made it as far as Loveland before accepting that the roads weren’t going to open. We were lucky enough to get a hotel, and I’m sure we looked pretty funny getting our suitcases out of the car in our sandals and hoodies. The best part was that evening, when my kids could not comprehend why I didn’t want to scrape six inches of snow off my car so I could go buy them McDonald’s. No coat? No gloves? No problem!

The best part was Monday morning, when I checked the map and saw that all the roads back to Laramie were open. We made it to Cheyenne before we found out that an accident had closed I-80 right back up. So we went back down and around to 287. It took three hours to get home.

I love where we live.
