A fast and reliable internet service called Bluepeak is coming to Laramie and will soon be available to both homes and businesses. Bluepeak will offer up to 5 gigabits of speed for residential community members and 10 gigabits for businesses.

Bluepeak Senior Communications Specialist, Amil Anderson, states that, “we [Bluepeak] are bringing fast, reliable internet to communities that honestly have been overlooked for too long.” Anderson says that the motto of Bluepeak is, “the size of your town shouldn’t determine the quality of your technology.” This motto is one of the major reasons Bluepeak has decided to expand to Laramie.

On May 24th, 2022, Bluepeak had a groundbreaking in Laramie, and since then they have been in construction. “It’s a construction process and it takes time,” Anderson says. “We are building a whole new network here in Laramie. There are of course challenges in every construction process, but we are working toward the goal of availability by end of October.”

Laramie residents in the area north of Downey Street between 9th and 15th as well as south of Reynolds Street between 15th and 22nd will be the first to have service available to them, with construction moving east after that. Bluepeak is projecting that their network will bring fiber internet to 13,000 Laramie homes and businesses over time.

Many other communities in Wyoming are benefiting from Bluepeak internet services including Sheridan, Rock Springs, Cheyenne, and Casper. Other announced Bluepeak expansion markets are in Missouri, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and North Dakota.

Laramie residents and businesses interested in service availability or further details on the construction process can sign up for updates by entering their home or business address at mybluepeak.com.

Anderson states that Wyoming ranks 43rd in the nation in internet coverage, speed and availability. “Internet in Wyoming is not very good, it’s not reliable, not fast, and not affordable…It’s 2022, we should have better options for internet services.”
