A Slice of Laramie’s school daze

This week is Parent-Teacher conferences for our school district, just in case you didn’t already receive ten emails about signing up for conferences via Zoom. My kids are doing virtual school through the district this semester, which means I oversee all their work. I thought this very important fact would mean for once we did not get any surprise announcements about anyone’s behavior from the teachers during conferences.

Nope.

Apparently our sixth-grader has been using the chat feature to talk to his friends while the class is holding their Zoom meetings. I feel bad that he misses his friends and doesn’t get to hang out with them every day at school, but also I am flabbergasted that this kid is able to get in trouble for talking at school when he’s not even in school. I don’t know whether I should punish him for misbehaving or ask him to teach me how to use the chat feature.
