Mark your calendars, folks! On Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Deerwood Ranch is opening its gates to the public for a one-of-a-kind event that promises adventure, delicious food, and a unique opportunity to meet Wyoming’s wild horses.
Nestled in the heart of Wyoming, Deerwood Ranch is home to over 350 wild horses, lovingly cared for by the dedicated team on this private ranch. And the best part? It’s open to the public, absolutely free, and requires no reservations!
A Day Filled with Excitement
Visitors are invited to gather at the Hay Barn for a day filled with exciting events and opportunities. One of the highlights of the day is the chance to adopt non-gentled BLM yearlings, both male and female, directly from the ranch. Additionally, burros will be available for adoption, and BLM representatives will be on-site to assist with questions and approval of adoption applications.
Delicious Food for a Good Cause
Foodies, take note! From 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, you can enjoy mouthwatering smoked meat sandwiches and sides, courtesy of Dave Herring. The best part? The proceeds will benefit the Shawn Herring Memorial Foundation, so be sure to bring some cash to support this worthy cause.
Shop ’til You Drop
For those who love shopping, there’s an array of options to explore. You can find bakery items, jams, jellies, sourdough bread, gift items like T-shirts and photo notecards, hides, jewelry, and home décor. If you’re into handmade leather goods, Wylie Leather has got you covered. Plus, there’s a selection of Wyoming-made products and raw dairy products, including milk, goat milk, and goat cheese.
Farmers Market and Artistic Fair Vibes
Get ready to embrace the fall spirit! With several vendors on-site, the atmosphere is reminiscent of a Farmers Market and Artistic Fair. Explore the local crafts and products while enjoying the crisp autumn air.
Up Close with Wild Horses
The highlight of the day is the opportunity to get up close and personal with the 350+ wild horses residing at Deerwood Ranch. Tractor rides and pick-up rides will be available to take you on a tour of the ranch, leaving every half hour from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Don’t miss the last tour at 2:00 PM!
