In a celebration of community spirit and a commitment to addressing local hunger, Laramie is eagerly anticipating the upcoming Second Annual Soup and Solstice event, set to take place on December 21, 2023, at the Feeding Laramie Valley located in LaBonte Park.

Hosted by the non-profit organization Feeding Laramie Valley, the event promises an evening filled with warmth, camaraderie, and, of course, delicious soup. The festivities will kick off at 5 PM and extend until 7 PM, and the best part? It’s a free event open to everyone in the community.

The Soup and Solstice event is not just about savoring bowls of hearty soup; it’s a unique blend of a soup-making competition, a silent auction, and a crafty fundraiser. Local artists and aspiring crafters have teamed up to create one-of-a-kind handcrafted bowls, available for purchase during the event. The proceeds from these artistic creations will directly support Feeding Laramie Valley’s mission-driven programs, including weekly Shares, the innovative Mobile Food Market, Community Gardens, and the Kids Out to Lunch Program.

Guillermo Avalos, the contact person for the event, expressed excitement about the community’s involvement. “Soup and Solstice is a celebration of our shared commitment to fighting hunger in Laramie. It’s an opportunity for everyone, from seasoned chefs to novices, to come together, enjoy some delicious soup, and contribute to a meaningful cause.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring family and friends, participate in the soup-making competition, donate a bowl for the cause, and explore the silent auction, where various items will be up for bid to further support Feeding Laramie Valley’s initiatives.

For those interested in joining the event or contributing in any way, Feeding Laramie Valley can be reached at 968 N. 9th Street, Laramie WY 82072, or contacted via phone at 307-223-4399 and email at info@feedinglaramievalley.org.

As the winter solstice approaches, Laramie is not only gearing up for the longest night but also preparing to shine a light on community collaboration and compassion through the Second Annual Soup and Solstice.
