Downtown Laramie has recently introduced a series of newly named parking lots, part of an initiative to improve parking options for residents and visitors. These four distinct parking areas, namely the Moose lot on 4th and University, the Bison lot on 1st and University, the Trout lot on 1st and Garfield, and the Sage Grouse lot on 2nd and Custer, collectively provide 175 parking spots to serve the community’s needs.

The Moose Lot: Situated at 4th and University, the Moose lot offers an impressive capacity of 50 parking spots, providing easy access to surrounding businesses and services, ensuring greater accessibility for both locals and tourists.

To mark the introduction of these parking lots and encourage their use, the Laramie Main Street Alliance has initiated a reward program. On October 25, dedicated volunteers began randomly awarding downtown gift certificates to individuals choosing these newly designated parking lots over street parking.

The Bison Lot: Located at 1st and University, the Bison lot offers an additional 20 parking spots, strategically positioned to provide a hassle-free parking experience for those exploring downtown Laramie.

The Trout Lot: For those seeking even more parking options, the Trout lot at 1st and Garfield provides an expansive parking area accommodating up to 80 vehicles, with its optimal location near prominent establishments ensuring a seamless downtown experience.

The Sage Grouse Lot: Positioned at 2nd and Custer, the Sage Grouse lot offers 25 parking spots, further enhancing downtown accessibility, making it an excellent choice for visitors wanting to enjoy Laramie’s unique businesses, restaurants, and cultural attractions.

The goal of the Laramie Main Street Alliance’s parking initiative is to alleviate the challenges associated with street parking, encouraging individuals to utilize these newly named parking lots. This not only adds to the convenience and efficiency within the downtown area but also supports good parking behavior.

Business owners in the area are excited about this initiative. Karen Voigt, owner of Second Story Books, shared her enthusiasm, saying, “Laramie Main Street has an exciting plan to reinforce good parking behavior. They will randomly select people parking in All Day lots to receive a Downtown Gift Certificate. How fun! Fun and important to provide short-term parking for downtown customers.”

Carrie Hansen, owner of The Chocolate Cellar, added, “Thank you for saving the spaces on the street for customers, especially our older ones; they really appreciate a short walk.”

Laramie Main Street Alliance encourages all residents and visitors to take advantage of these newly named parking lots as part of their commitment to the growth and prosperity of downtown Laramie.
