Are you looking for something to do this weekend? Maybe something for the whole family? Are
you into fishing? Whether you’re new to the sport or an expert, check out the Laramie Plains
Lions Club 31st Annual Ice Fishing Derby. The ice fishing derby kicks off Saturday, Jan. 6 at 8
a.m. until 4 p.m. and will resume Sunday, Jan. 7 at 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Lake Hattie.
Registration for the derby can be purchased at the West Laramie Fly Store located 1657 Snowy
Range Rd. Tickets for Adults ages 14 and older start at $40, and youth 13 and younger are $5.
Registration is available through Jan. 7 at 10 a.m. There will be six prizes in the adult category
and an additional six prizes in the youth department. Prizes will start with the Largest fish, and
move onto the 2nd largest fish, the 3rd largest fish, the 4th largest, the 5th largest, and then the
smallest fish for both groups.
After enjoying the day out on the water with the whole family, come check out the concession
stand for a nice bite. Concessions will be from 10:30 a.m. through 1:30 p.m. by the Laramie
Lions Club, including Frito pie, hot dogs, and Chugwater chili. Be sure to check the Wyoming
Game and Fish Regulations for 2024. Some regulations may include a six line allowance, angler
compliance with Aquatic Invasive Species Regulations. Sorting and Releasing fish prior to
weigh-ins, culling, is not permitted. Proceeds will help benefit both Laramie Plains Lions Club
