Feeding Laramie Valley Helps Wyoming Grow Fresh Food and Big Ideas!

Browse By

Feeding Laramie Valley is helping people all over Wyoming grow and share fresh food with their communities! Through their Specialty Crops Small Grants program, they are giving money to people and groups who want to grow fruits, vegetables, herbs, and other useful plants. These grants make it easier for beginners to start new projects and for experienced growers to expand their work.

Here are some exciting projects happening across the state:

  • Wyoming State Fair – A triple geodome exhibit will showcase specialty crops that grow well in Wyoming.
  • Ethete Community Garden – A project teaching natural ways to control weeds and pests.
  • Powell – Second graders and senior citizens are teaming up to grow plants in raised garden beds.
  • Evanston Youth Club – Kids are learning how to grow their own food and use it in cooking and even food businesses!
  • Sheridan – New farmers are getting help through an incubator program run by Rooted in Wyoming.
  • Elk Mountain Herbs – A demonstration garden will teach the best ways to protect herbs and medicinal plants from pests.
  • Worland Garden Club – A new small business, Generous Roots Garden Company, will sell plants to help keep the Worland Community Garden running.

The grants range from $500 to $10,000, and anyone with a good idea can apply. If you’re new to grants, don’t worry! The team at Feeding Laramie Valley is ready to help you with the process. You can even match part of your grant by donating some of the food you grow to a local food security organization.

“We want to make it easy for people to get this funding,” says Lina Dunning, the Grants Coordinator at Feeding Laramie Valley. “If you have an idea for growing food and sharing it with your community, we want to help make it happen!”

There is still plenty of money left, and projects can be funded as long as they are completed by September 1, 2025. Feeding Laramie Valley hopes to support 20 projects in total, so don’t wait! If you’re interested, contact Lina Dunning at lina@feedinglaramievalley.org or call (307) 223-4399.
