Dan Pasman: A Community-Centered Mortgage Expert Making a Difference in Laramie

For nearly two decades, Dan Pasman has been a steadfast figure in the Laramie community, building relationships and helping people secure their homes. As the Area Sales Manager for Union Home Mortgage, Pasman’s dedication to his work goes beyond just financial transactions. His deep commitment to the people of Laramie has made him a respected figure, not only in the mortgage industry but also in local community initiatives.

Originally from Oxford, Kansas, Pasman moved to Laramie 19 and a half years ago and quickly made a name for himself in the local mortgage lending scene. “I’ve been in mortgage lending 18 of the 19 and a half years I’ve lived here,” he reflects. “I started my journey at American National Bank, and my joke about myself is that I’ve worked my way down Grand Avenue.” Pasman’s career path has led him through various institutions, including Wyoming State Bank (now FNBO) and UniWyo Federal Credit Union, before he ultimately opened his own branch with Union Home Mortgage.

Pasman’s decision to enter the mortgage industry was not driven by financial gain but by a desire to make a difference in people’s lives. “I wanted to get into housing, which is the most important and expensive thing anyone buys in their lifetime,” he shares. “To be able to help somebody with that and be trusted to help them with something so monumental is one of the greatest compliments I think I’ve ever received.”

The most rewarding part of Pasman’s work, he says, is the ability to help families secure a safe and stable place to call home. “At the end of the day, we all want to take care of our families,” he explains. “It’s rewarding to see families have a place where they can gather, raise kids, and call home.” Pasman also recognizes the long-term impact homeownership can have on an individual’s financial success. “When people get into homeownership, their financial situation tends to improve over time. It’s nice to see them achieve financial stability and wealth building,” he adds.

With today’s fluctuating real estate market, Pasman encourages first-time buyers to focus on financial planning. “It’s important to sit down with someone and talk about your financial positioning,” he advises. “Homeownership has to come at the right time—when you’re emotionally and financially ready.” Pasman also stresses the importance of understanding the local market and being prepared when the right opportunity arises.

“Laramie is a unique place for home buying,” Pasman says. “The market here is steady, and if you’re planning to stay in Laramie long-term, it’s a good idea to jump in sooner rather than later. The market is stable, which allows people to establish roots and take advantage of homeownership opportunities.”

Outside of his professional life, Pasman and his family are actively involved in the Laramie community. He has been a board member of Albany County United Way for over 12 years, an organization he is deeply passionate about. “We love United Way because it’s the one agency in town where you can see how donations are used to help many nonprofits in Laramie,” Pasman explains. “It’s fulfilling to know that our contributions help turn a small amount into something much greater for the people who need it.”

Pasman emphasizes the importance of being a responsible steward of donations, explaining that United Way’s ability to leverage matching grants helps make every dollar stretch further. “I don’t have deep pockets, but I can give a little bit, and I know it will be used to do a lot of good,” he says.

Despite his many accomplishments, Pasman remains humble, always putting others first. He speaks highly of his work with Union Home Mortgage, excited to offer new products that can help solve housing issues in Laramie. “We’re going to offer a lot of good products, especially in construction,” he shares. “We want to help people get into homes, even if they don’t have the 20% down payment, and make a dent in our housing problems here in town.”

Dan Pasman’s commitment to his community, his work, and his family is evident in every aspect of his life. His genuine care for the people he serves and his involvement in local causes like United Way exemplify what it means to be a true community leader. Pasman’s work at Union Home Mortgage goes beyond business—it’s about making a positive impact, one home at a time.
