Just outside Laramie in Rock River, Wyoming, you’ll find J&J Second Chance Small Holdings—a heartwarming animal rescue run by mother-daughter duo Jennifer and Janna, affectionately known as The Goat Ladies. Their nonprofit farm sanctuary is home to dozens of rescued goats (and a few other lucky animals) who’ve been given a new lease on life.
But it’s not just about rescue—it’s about healing. Through “goat therapy,” J&J’s herd has brought smiles and comfort to veterans, cancer survivors, schoolkids, college students, and event guests across Albany County. Whether you’re petting, cuddling, or just quietly spending time with a goat, the experience is calming, joyful, and surprisingly therapeutic.
J&J also offers educational classes, eco-friendly goat mowing, private events, and by-appointment visits to their sanctuary. Volunteers are always welcome!
As a donation-based nonprofit, J&J relies on community support for food, shelter, and medical care. Can’t adopt? You can still help—sponsor a goat, support their community outreach, or chip in during WyoGives on July 16, a statewide day of giving for Wyoming nonprofits.
