According to a recent post on Chancey Williams’ official Facebook page, the Laramie-based country music star will appear in the upcoming feature film Flint, based on the 1960 novel by legendary Western author Louis L’Amour.

The project, currently in pre-production, will star Josh Holloway (Lost, Yellowstone) in the title role and is being adapted for the screen by writer-director Ryan Whitaker. Filming is slated to begin later this year in New Mexico.

Williams, known for his rodeo roots and dynamic performances with the Younger Brothers Band, shared a behind-the-scenes photo tagged with the film’s official account, @flintmovieofficial. The post drew excited comments from fans across Wyoming and beyond, many expressing their surprise and pride at seeing the musician step into a movie role.

While details of Williams’ role have not been released, his authentic cowboy background and deep ties to Wyoming’s Western culture are a natural fit for the classic frontier story. Flint follows the tale of a former financier turned gunslinger who steps in to defend a rancher during a violent range war in the New Mexico Territory.

No release date has been announced, but the combination of Louis L’Amour’s storytelling, Holloway’s leading role, and Williams’ Wyoming cowboy spirit has already created plenty of anticipation—especially here in Laramie.
