LARAMIE, Wyo. — This September, downtown Laramie will transform into a hub of live music as the inaugural Snow Train Music Festival rolls into town September 19–20. For two packed days and nights, more than 90 musical acts—nearly all with Wyoming roots—will perform across 11 downtown venues, turning the city into a true music destination.

From the intimate mead bar of The Great Untamed to the historic Gryphon Theatre, music will spill from stages starting Friday afternoon and continue well past midnight on Saturday. Headlining the weekend is Laramie native Shelby Means, an up-and-coming bluegrass star recently highlighted in Rolling Stone for her standout performance at Colorado’s Rockygrass Festival. Means and her band will close out Saturday night at the Gryphon, bringing the celebration full circle in her hometown.

The festival is the newest creation of Wyoming Singer-Songwriters, the organization behind the long-running Wyoming Singer-Songwriter Competition. Building on eight years of cultivating talent across the state, the team has curated a lineup that showcases both rising stars and seasoned performers. Highlights include top artists from the 2025 Singer-Songwriter Competition and winners of the 250th Commemorative Song Contest.

Adding to the creative mix, the 307 International Film Festival will present a special screening of select short films from this year’s festival on Saturday at the Gryphon Theatre, giving attendees a taste of Wyoming’s thriving independent film scene alongside the music.

Festivities kick off Friday at 4:00 p.m. at Bond’s Brewing Company and continue late into the night at venues like the Buckhorn Bar & Parlor, Black Tooth Brewing, and the Ruffed-Up Duck. Saturday begins with a caboose painting ceremony at Depot Park, a nod to the historic train that inspired the festival’s name. Afternoon sets will feature intimate singer-songwriter performances inside St. Matthew’s Cathedral, while Battle Song Records hosts live music and artist merchandise throughout the day.
