I drove a decently tall mid-size SUV for many years, which was awesome in Laramie winter weather. If your car is high enough, you don’t have to shovel the snow out of your driveway. Gun the engine as you’re backing out, you get through the snow just fine! It’s Laramie; the snow will eventually melt and you’ll never have to shovel!
I did not realize until this Sunday that the same approach to snow cannot be taken when you drive a Toyota Camry. As we were getting ready to leave for church, I told the kids to get in the car.
“Nope,” my husband said. “Can’t take the car. I’ll have to unhook the truck from the trailer.”
“Let’s just take the car,” I argued.
My husband directed me to the window overlooking the driveway, where I could see a beautiful blanket of untouched snow. “Your car is not getting through that,” my dear patient husband explained.
So we took the truck. And after church, we shoveled the driveway. And by we, I mean my husband and kids, so I guess I get to take my no-shoveling approach after all.
