I never get so nervous going to the store as I do the week of Thanksgiving. Will I be able to find a parking space? Will there be any fresh cranberries, or will I have to break my husband’s heart and buy canned? All these thoughts and more run through my mind as I elbow people out of the way in my attempt to get the last box of French-fried onions.
During the week of Thanksgiving the grocery store becomes a mini version of The Hunger Games. You ever see someone grab the last can of cream of mushroom soup and then sprint away like their life depends on it? You ever see someone chuck a can of clam chowder at the back of someone else’s head in retaliation? Visit a grocery store right before Thanksgiving, you’ll see it all.
