Cathedral Home Seeks to Launch Crisis Text Line for Wyoming

Browse By

Cathedral Home is partnering with the national nonprofit Crisis Text Line to provide free, 24/7, text-based mental health support across Wyoming. This service would offer residents, especially in rural areas, confidential crisis intervention from trained counselors, helping reduce barriers like stigma and limited access to care. Currently, Wyoming has no other organization partnered with Crisis Text Line.

“Cathedral Home prioritizes identifying mental health gaps across the state,” says Nicole Hauser, Executive Director of Cathedral Home. “This new channel could immediately expand access to care for many.”

The text-based platform allows individuals to reach out discreetly and receive real-time support. Along with direct care, the partnership will provide data on mental health needs across Wyoming, helping organizations address service gaps.

Addressing a Growing Need
Cathedral Home’s preventative programs, such as the Laramie Youth Crisis Center, Resource Center, and Community Counseling, served 584 people last year, with a 279% rise in families seeking support. These programs aim to build protective factors, life skills, and self-sufficiency.

“This service would give Wyoming youth a safe way to express their needs,” adds Hauser.

The organization has also been named a community partner in Ivinson Hospital’s 2024-2026 Community Health Needs Assessment, which highlights behavioral health as a top priority.

Funding the Initiative
Cathedral Home aims to raise $19,500 to fund the service for three years. Supporters can contribute through an upcoming Giving Tuesday campaign or by donating via the Cathedral Home website.

“This service could be life-changing for families across the state,” says Rachel LeBeau, Director of Advancement. “Mental health affects everyone at some point.”
