Laramie Jubilee Days, a beloved celebration of Wyoming’s history, receives strong support from the City of Laramie. Together with the Laramie Jubilee Days committee, the City assembles a dedicated team of staff members to ensure the success of this annual event.

Originating in 1940 as “Equality Days” to commemorate Wyoming’s 50th anniversary of statehood, Laramie Jubilee Days has evolved into a vibrant weeklong celebration. Festivities include fiddlers’ contests, chariot races, parades, street dances, downtown food and beer festivals, and, of course, the rodeo. This cherished event, held around Wyoming’s statehood anniversary on July 10th, attracts residents and visitors who come to experience and celebrate Wyoming’s rich culture.

Assisting the Laramie Jubilee Days Committee, the City team plays a vital role in coordinating various aspects of the event. This dedicated group consists of Nancy Oakland-Potter, Nancy Bartholomew, Robert Terry, Taun Smith, LPD officers, Dennis Johnson, fire crews, Shane Johnson, Craig Nottage, Streets crews, Felipe Suazo, Solid Waste crews, and Scott Hunter, Park and Recreation crews.

Their responsibilities encompass obtaining alcohol permits, managing rodeo logistics, ensuring downtown access, overseeing carnival wristbands, maintaining safety measures, and keeping events secure with the assistance of the Laramie Police Department. City staff members, including the Laramie Fire Department, Street Division, Solid Waste staff, and Park and Recreation crews, all contribute to the smooth operation of the festivities.

Furthermore, the City’s administrative staff conducts inspections of carnival rides to guarantee their safety, while Health Inspector Cody Talbott ensures food vendors comply with licensing and state guidelines to prevent foodborne illnesses.

Assistant City Manager Todd Feezer praises the team’s outstanding dedication and acknowledges their invaluable contribution to the community. He states, “Everyone puts the right ‘git er’ done’ attitude toward the events that surely benefit our community.”

The City of Laramie invites everyone to participate in this year’s Laramie Jubilee Days, promising another memorable series of events.
