Summer in Laramie, often referred to as “Laradise,” is bustling, but residents need not worry about road closures and construction disruptions. The City of Laramie’s interactive map keeps locals informed about ongoing construction projects. Additionally, the Engineering Division offers a separate map detailing current and upcoming street closures, obstructions, and detours.
Public Works Director Brooks Webb emphasizes the priority of safety amid construction: “We know that construction and road closures can be frustrating, but our number one priority is safety. Make sure you are careful around work zones, watch out for workers and equipment, and check the maps for closures and detours.”
Here are notable projects to be aware of:
- Citywide Chip Sealing Project: Launching later this summer, this project involves essential maintenance to extend roadway life. While 57 blocks will undergo maintenance, the closures should be minimal.
- University of Wyoming Reconstruction Project: Spanning 15th Street from Lewis Street to Ivinson Avenue, this project is part of the UW housing initiative. Expected to continue through summer, it aims to conclude by fall.
- C-Line Project Phase 2: This multi-phase project replaces a sewer trunk main collecting wastewater around the University. Harney Street will be closed at 6th Street from July 17 to July 31 for sanitary sewer replacement and roadway resurfacing.
