Last Thursday, children at the Developmental Preschool and Day Care Center in Laramie, received a surprise visit from the Laramie Police Department and Laramie Fire Department.
The visit, organized by Nid Collins, a parent of one of the children, came about because he wanted to do something for the Day Care that was fun and a bit different from the normal schedule. “The pandemic had disrupted a lot of the Day Care’s summer plans and I just though it would be nice for everyone to have a fun visit”.
The two departments handed over toy fire helmets and goody bags to teachers, who shared them out with the children. Firemen from C-Shift out of Station #3 showed the children some of their gear and both Firefighters and Police Officers chatted with the children and teachers for an hour.
Before leaving, lights and sirens were briefly seen and heard all around the parking lot at the Day Care, much to the enjoyment of the children. “The visit was a great success and just seeing everyone smiling with their eyes and enjoying the time was something that I’ll never forget” said Mr. Collins.
