June 10, 2023 – Deerwood Ranch, Wyoming: On Saturday, June 10, the Deerwood Ranch will open its doors to the public for a day filled with events and an opportunity to witness the beauty of over 350 wild horses under the care of the private ranch. Nestled in the heart of Wyoming, this ranch has been dedicated to the preservation and well-being of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) wild horses.
With no reservations required, visitors are invited to gather at the Hay Barn between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to engage in various activities and learn more about the ranch’s mission. BLM representatives will be present to address inquiries and approve adoption applications, making it a unique chance for horse enthusiasts to find their perfect equine companion.
One of the highlights of the day will be the presence of over 20 non-gentled BLM yearlings, consisting of both male and female horses, available for adoption. Prospective adopters are encouraged to explore the adoption incentives provided by the BLM to facilitate a smooth transition for the horses into their new homes.
To satisfy hunger pangs, Alibi Wood Fired Pizza will be serving lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Attendees can also indulge in a variety of bakery items, jams, and jellies available for purchase. Additionally, a selection of gift items including T-shirts, coffee mugs, photo notecards, framed photos, handmade leather goods from Wylie Leather, and Wyoming-made rope baskets will be on display for those seeking unique souvenirs.
In a celebration of local produce, Deerwood Ranch will offer raw dairy products such as milk, cream, and eggs, as well as farm-fresh lettuce and pesto sourced from Middle Fork Farm Meats. The event aims to create a Farmers Market/Artistic Fair vibe by welcoming several vendors to showcase their products.
For a more immersive experience, tractor hayrides will be provided throughout the day, offering visitors the chance to observe the magnificent wild horses in their natural environment. Guided tours to view the 350+ wild horses will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., departing every half hour, with the last tour departing at 2:00 p.m.
Adding to the rustic charm of the event, the Colorado Wagon Train will be available to transport attendees to and from the parking area using horse-drawn wagons. This unique experience promises to be a memorable and enjoyable part of the day for all participants.
