The City of Laramie is gearing up to celebrate National Volunteer Week from April 21st to 27th with its annual Laramie Community Clean-Up Days. Beginning on Earth Day, April 22nd, and running through May 7th, residents are encouraged to pitch in and beautify the city before summer kicks in.
Individuals or groups interested in volunteering can call the City at (307) 721-5285 to coordinate a clean-up location and time. While specific locations are predetermined by the City based on need, volunteers can also choose other areas for clean-up by arranging trash bag pick-ups with the City Code Enforcement Office. Once the cleaning is done, City staff will collect filled trash bags.
As a token of appreciation, volunteers who sign up for a clean-up day before the May 7th deadline will be entered into a drawing for downtown gift certificates. These certificates can be used at participating local businesses.
The City of Laramie emphasizes that community clean-up efforts are not limited to National Volunteer Week or the designated Community Clean-Up Days. Residents are encouraged to pick up trash and litter throughout the year. However, participating in the Clean-Up Days event is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact.
To coordinate a clean-up location and time between April 22nd and May 7th, contact the City Code Enforcement Inspector at (307) 721-5285.
