The Laramie Plains Civic Center (LPCC) has taken another significant step in preserving and modernizing the Gryphon Theatre, thanks to a recent grant from the Rocky Mountain Power Foundation. This grant will fund crucial upgrades to the theatre’s audio system, an essential component of its ongoing modernization project.
Originally built in 1926, the Gryphon Theatre holds an iconic place in Laramie’s cultural and historical landscape. Since 2022, the LPCC has been undertaking a multi-phase modernization initiative to enhance the theatre’s infrastructure while maintaining its historic charm. Previous funding has come from the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund, Albany County and City of Laramie Community Partner Funds, and generous private donors.
The latest funding phase focuses on upgrading on-stage audio components, ensuring an improved experience for performers and audiences alike. These enhancements will enable the Gryphon Theatre to continue hosting its diverse programming, which includes community theater productions, concerts, educational events, and public forums.
LPCC’s commitment to blending historical preservation with state-of-the-art technology demonstrates its dedication to supporting the arts and fostering a vibrant community space.
Special thanks are extended to the Rocky Mountain Power Foundation for their steadfast support of initiatives like this that enrich organizations and communities across the region.
