Beginning yesterday, May 23, 2024, Ivinson’s Emergency Department unveils its new entrance as the first phase of its expansion and renovation nears completion. “We are excited to unveil the first major phase of this project and open the new entrance,” Chief Executive Officer Doug Faus said. “Opening our new expanded waiting space, renovated trauma room and three new treatment rooms is a significant milestone in improving our facilities to better meet the needs of our patients.”
One year after the groundbreaking ceremony, the first phase reopens with a new entrance, a two-spot ambulance garage, an expanded waiting area, a bigger supply room, one renovated trauma room, three new exam rooms – including an updated private forensic nursing space – and updated isolation, decontamination, and HVAC capabilities are also included.
“Patients and visitors will benefit from the increased space immediately,” said Erin Rumsey, Emergency Department Director. “The larger and more comfortable waiting area and improved treatment spaces are now open to the public.”
Fencing around the new entrance will be relocated, and emergency admitting will move to the new area. Patients will enter through the new entrance under the drive-up awning on the southeast corner of the hospital.
Phase 2 of construction begins in June, involving the relocation of the nursing station and the closure of several treatment rooms. The project is expected to be completed in early 2025. For updates, visit https://www.ivinsonhospital.org/vitals/.
