Laramie Animal Shelter Seasonal Donations
The season of holiday giving is upon us. Folks are thinking of ways they can extend their generosity throughout their communities. At this time of year we field numerous calls inquiring about what the animals at the shelter might “need”.
The animals at the Laramie Animal Shelter have their food and shelter needs met through city budget. We like to feed a stable diet for the duration of an animal’s stay at the shelter so a readily available dry food is fed for the duration of their stay as their “maintenance diet”. We also have bedding available for our dogs and cats so they have a cushy, comfortable place to nestle in and rest or sleep that helps to keep them warm and dry and up off of the floors and cage bottoms.
That being said, we supplement those basic needs with a host of comfort items that are donated to the shelter by caring citizens and supporters. We provide canned food as a palatable alternative to dry for our cats. We provide Kong enrichment toys stuffed with canned food for our dogs. We provide toys and lasting chews for our cats and dogs as well. All these comfort items help them feel at home during their stay.
To that end, we provide the following list of items that the Laramie Animal Shelter will use directly in our facility to add comfort and enrichment to our animals’ stays.
- Canned Pedigree dog food (any flavor)
- Canned Friskies cat food (any flavor, preferably Pate variety)
- Pupperoni dog treats
- Rawhide retriever rolls or rawhide bones (we avoid the strips or chips of rawhide as the dogs will often try to swallow them whole)
- Towels, handtowels and washcloths

The Laramie Animal Shelter is located at 1064 N. 5th Street. The shelter is open Monday through Friday from 1 pm until 5:30 pm.
