The Laramie Area Growth Plan has been honored by the Wyoming Planning Association (WYOPASS) as the ‘Plan of the Year’ for its role in guiding sustainable growth in the Laramie area. Crafted through collaboration with community members, city planners, the City of Laramie Planning Commission, and Albany County, the plan, developed by consultant Logan Simpson, addresses growth challenges and focuses on enhancing residents’ quality of life, supporting the local economy, and preserving Laramie’s identity.
The award was officially presented at the Wyoming Planning Association’s Fall Conference and the November 7th Laramie City Council meeting. Derek Teini, the Community and Economic Development Director, presented the award, emphasizing the collaborative effort between the City and County.
In addition to the award for the Laramie Area Growth Plan, the Wyoming Planning Association recognized Sharon Buccino, a member of the Laramie Planning Commission, as ‘Planning Commissioner of the Year’ for Wyoming. Buccino’s dedication to shaping Laramie’s urban planning strategies earned her this esteemed award. She expressed optimism in facing challenges with the support of colleagues, city staff, and the state association, WYOPASS.
Assistant City Manager Todd Feezer concluded the meeting by acknowledging and celebrating both the Laramie Area Growth Plan and Sharon Buccino for their well-deserved awards and significant contributions to the City of Laramie. For more information, contact Derek Teini at dteini@cityoflaramie.org.
