The Laramie Ice & Event Center is eagerly preparing for the upcoming season, offering a wide range of activities and programs designed to promote health, wellness, and community engagement. The Event Center is set to open its doors on September 3rd at noon, with a half-price Public Skate event to kick off the winter season.
For those who have yet to try ice skating, there’s no need to shy away from this family-friendly activity. The Laramie Ice & Event Center provides a variety of classes, including Figure Skating, Hockey, and Adult Skating Lessons. With skates provided, these lessons are open to individuals aged three and up.
“The Ice and Event Center is a welcoming place for people of all ages and skill levels to enjoy the ice,” says Courtney Boutelle, the Ice and Events Center Supervisor. “It’s a gathering spot for families, friends, and the community, where we can bring a bit of joy and light during a season that can often feel daunting and challenging to stay active.”
Beyond lessons, the Ice & Event Center hosts several leagues and clubs, such as broomball, amateur hockey, and the High-Altitude Skating Club. It is also the home arena for the University of Wyoming’s Men’s and Women’s Club Hockey Teams, the Wyoming Collegiate Figure Skating Club, and the Outlaw Youth Hockey Program, which provides over 100 children aged 6 to 19 the opportunity to compete.
For those who prefer less structured ice time, the Center offers public skating sessions, stick and puck sessions (with required gear), and freestyle figure skating times throughout the week.
“The Event Center hosts events year-round, from hockey games to figure skating recitals, and the public is always welcome to join in the fun,” Courtney added. “Details can be found on our online calendar.”
