A message from the Laramie Animal Shelter:
“October 22nd is National Make a Dog’s Day! It’s a day to celebrate everything DOG!
Naturally, at the Laramie Animal Shelter we think the best way to make a dog’s day is to adopt him and give him a loving, forever home. But, if you already have a significant other laying at the foot of your bed, here are some things you can do to celebrate all he brings to your life.
- Go for an extra long walk
- Get him a new, novel toy
- Teach him a new trick or skill
- Give him a nice bath and new collar
- Make sure his tags are in good shape and that they provide current owner information
- Take him to the dog park
- Spend some one on one time with him
- Schedule a check up to protect his health
- Explore a new location on an outing
- Arrange a doggy play date with a friend of his
If you want to do something extra special, you might consider sponsoring an adoptable dog. Offer to pay the adoption fees for a senior or special needs pooch that might get overlooked by prospective adopters. Pay it forward by donating to a spay/neuter fund to help shelter avoid unplanned litters of puppies.
There are lots of ways to celebrate all that Fido does for you. There are also lots of ways to help other people find the joy of doggy companionship. Take a little time today to let your canine companion know how much you really appreciate his faithful, furry presence in your life. If possible, do something outside your own life to help another person meet their match and Make a Dog’s Day!”
