John Evans, a well-known local donor and real estate developer, is teaming up with the Ivinson Memorial Hospital Foundation to enhance emergency services in our community. In a groundbreaking announcement, they’re committing $5 million in matching funds to support the expansion and renovation of Ivinson’s Emergency Services Facility.
This remarkable pledge is made in loving memory of John’s late wife, Janey Hampton, who was deeply impressed by the care she received at Ivinson during her illness. John shared, “Janey wanted to make a significant and lasting impact on the community. To us, that meant new facilities, so we chose to provide substantial matching funds.”
John Evans, a University of Wyoming alumnus with an MBA, has been a prominent figure in Laramie. His commitment to community service spans 17 years with the Rotary Club, where he served on the membership committee. He has also spearheaded successful business ventures, including the Paddocks at Fort Sanders subdivision.
“All gifts to the Foundation during its capital campaign for the Emergency Services Facility, including proceeds from events like La Grande Fleur and Sportsman Raffle, will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Mr. Evans,” stated Foundation Executive Director Shannon Polk. This generous gesture is an invitation to support our local hospital.
Janey Hampton’s passing in March 2023 marked the end of their 49-year marriage. Janey’s kindness and generosity left a profound impact on those who knew her. John expressed, “It was her spirit that drove this gift forward, and she wanted to see something significant happen at this hospital for the benefit of the entire community.”
In late May, ground was broken for the Emergency Services Facility and Expansion and Renovation Project, a $14 million initiative. State and grant funding have already supported the project, which is the current focus of the Foundation’s capital campaign. The expansion will provide 13 full-size treatment rooms, four exam rooms with full isolation capabilities, improved trauma rooms, and enhanced circulation and airflow, totaling an additional 3,250 square feet and renovating 8,800 square feet of existing space.
“Mr. Evans’ $5 million pledge demonstrates his commitment to our community’s health and ensures world-class care in Laramie,” noted Polk. You too can be a part of this impact by contributing today.
