With summer just around the corner, the City of Laramie is excited to bring another year of community-wide fun 4th of July events that you won’t want to miss. Mark your calendars for Freedom Has a Birthday and Fire in the Sky!
Freedom Has a Birthday
Freedom Has a Birthday, presented by Rocky Mountain Power, is one of Laramie’s biggest summer events. This family-friendly, alcohol-free occasion celebrates America’s freedom and attracts over 10,000 visitors to Washington Park on July 4th. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., attendees can enjoy a performance by the Laramie Municipal Band, two entertainment stages, free children’s activities, food, and a variety of organizational, demonstration, and retail booths.
As in previous years, businesses and organizations are invited to set up a booth in the park to connect with residents and visitors of Laramie. Registration for a booth is now open and can be reserved on the Laramie Parks and Recreation website (electronic registrations only). If you are unable to use the online system, please visit the Laramie Recreation Center and staff will register you at the front desk. Additional event information and a booth site map are available at https://www.cityoflaramie.org/1107/Freedom-has-a-Birthday.
Fire in the Sky
Fire in the Sky – a fireworks display presented by WyoTech – is the second 4th of July event you’ll be sure to enjoy. Fire in the Sky will begin at approximately 10 p.m., at Harney St. and 22nd. J&M Displays of Iowa will supply the fireworks and pyrotechnician Dave Akers returns for his 33rd consecutive display in Laramie. The display will again be launched from the area near 22nd Street and Armory Road. This year’s display will consist of approximately 288 aerial shells ranging in diameter from 3 to 8 inches, resulting in an Independence Day celebration that’s sure to impress. Keep an eye out for more information in the months leading up to the main event.
The City of Laramie partners with WyoTech to bring this exciting firework show to the community. In addition, WyoTech students and staff volunteer their time to help make the event big and bright for all. From cleanup after the show to participating in the 4th of July festivities, it’s a great way for WyoTech students to connect with the Laramie community.
“We take pride in connecting our students with the community through the Fire in the Sky event. It gives our new students the opportunity to meet people, get connected, and have a fun celebration to kick off their new journey both in Laramie and with WyoTech,” says WyoTech VP of Operations, Kyle Morris.
The City of Laramie is looking forward to celebrating yet another year of 4th of July events with the community. Be sure to mark your calendars for Freedom Has a Birthday and Fire in the Sky.
