Whether it’s a personalized gift for a loved one, an engraved award recognizing excellence, or customized promotional products for a business, Star Awards & Promos has been a trusted name in the community. But beyond the high-quality products and quick turnaround times, there’s a story—a story of family, dedication, and a love for Laramie.

Ryan and Kim Bennett, the husband-and-wife team behind Star Awards & Promos, never set out to own a business like this. Ryan, originally from Farson, Wyoming, came to Laramie in the late ‘90s for school, moved away, and was ultimately drawn back by the community he had come to love. Kim, a Kansas native, moved to Laramie in 2006 and quickly fell in love with the small-town charm. When the opportunity to take over Star Awards & Promos presented itself, the couple saw it as more than just a business venture—it was a chance to be part of something meaningful.

“The previous owner was looking to step away, and we saw a great small business that had potential,” Ryan explains. “We wanted to learn something new, and we had the ability to give it a try. So, we jumped in.”

Jumping in meant learning the ins and outs of the engraving and promotional product world—a process that came with plenty of challenges. From mastering the machinery to understanding the nuances of customer needs, Kim took the lead, making sure that every order was handled with precision and care. “Kim is the heart of the operation,” Ryan says proudly. “She’s worked hard to make sure our customers get exactly what they’re looking for, and that they walk away happy.”

Since taking over Star Awards & Promos two years ago, the Bennetts have worked to expand and improve what the shop offers. Kim has introduced new personalized gift options, including unique sublimation items like custom glass cutting boards. The couple is also looking ahead, hoping to grow their promotional product services to better serve local businesses and organizations.

“You can go online and order pens, mugs, or T-shirts from a big company,” Ryan says, “but we can offer the same products, at the same prices, with something extra—personalized service from people who live right here in Laramie. Plus, when you shop with us, that money stays in the community and helps support local nonprofits and causes we care about.”

For Ryan and Kim, running a small business together isn’t just about making a living—it’s about making a difference. “We love this town, and we want to be the go-to place for personalized gifts and promotional products,” Kim adds. “But more than that, we want people to feel like they have a place to come where they know they’ll be taken care of.”

If you’re looking for a unique gift, a custom award, or promotional items for your business, Ryan and Kim invite you to stop by Star Awards & Promos. “The website is great, but if you’re not sure where to start, just give us a call or come in,” Kim says. “We’re happy to help find exactly what you need.”

Star Awards & Promos is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can visit their website at www.starawards.promo, email orders@starawards.promo, or call (307) 742-5873.
