In the latest enhancements to the City of Laramie Community Recreation Center, the leisure pool has received a fantastic makeover, offering a range of new equipment and play features. These additions are part of the Rec Center’s commitment to routine renovations and updates.
Among the standout features is an interactive play structure in the indoor leisure pool, featuring a large water toy. This structure includes a water table, enabling control over the water flow onto a ball and a table, providing entertainment for both kids and adults. With stairs leading to a slide and additional elements like a water bucket, the pool now offers a diverse and engaging experience. A rain feature over the lazy river, complete with new kites streaming water, adds to the excitement.
Recreation Manager Jodi Guerin encourages community members to explore these updates, made possible by the Specific Purpose Tax. Guerin emphasizes that the upgrades were necessary due to the aging and wear of the previous equipment. As part of routine maintenance, the pool plaster was refinished, and a new fence now separates the indoor lap pool and leisure pool. This separation allows for independent operation, enhancing efficiency in accommodating Rec Center members and guests.
While these improvements are in full swing, the Rec Center is actively seeking lifeguards to join their team. Staff shortages have limited current pool hours, and new recruits are welcome to apply, with in-house Red Cross Certification classes available. Visit City of Laramie’s employment page for more information and to apply.
