Hello, my name is Hazel Homer-Wambeam and I am thrilled to be launching “Only in Laramie” on This Is Laramie!
Allow me to introduce myself, I have lived in the Gem City of the Plains for twenty years, nearly my whole lifetime, and because of this I have deep roots in the Laramie community. I am currently a Junior at the University of Wyoming (UW) studying Theatre and Dance Performance with minors in the Honors College, Political Science, and American Sign Language. My involvement in the Laramie community includes teaching children’s dance at a local dance studio, owning my own local business, serving in UW’s student government, and writing for This Is Laramie! I am humbled to hold the title of the Distinguished Young Woman of Wyoming for 2019, being awarded the opportunity to represent my state and town at the national competition a few years ago. I am excited to be competing for the title of Miss Wyoming next June at the state Miss America scholarship program.
This weekly column will be a place for me to share a brief story or anecdote from my week about why I love Laramie along with a photo I take of the town. Tune in each Friday to read about some of the wonderful, special, and funny moments that only come from living in Laramie!
