The Laramie Recreation Center announces the temporary closure of  aquatics facilities on Friday March 8 through Sunday March 10 for the demolition of the Whirlpool Hot Tub.  

Last fall when the Indoor Leisure Pool improvements were being completed, the Whirlpool Hot Tub began losing large volumes of water for unknown causes.  Through a series of tests and inspections it was determined that the plumbing providing circulation and drainage in the hot tub has failed and is leaking into the area under the pool.  Initial attempts to repair the leaking pipes served to identify that the number of leaks will require a full demolition and rebuilding of the structure.

Demolition is expected to be loud and affect indoor air quality and air temperatures while the concrete structure is being removed, prompting closure of all aquatic facilities.  Once the demolition is complete, reconstruction of the Whirlpool Hot Tub will commence and reopening is anticipated in early May.
