Relative Theatrics is starting off their season strong this year with a Season 10 Kick-Off Fundraiser next Thursday. The event will take place from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on September 15th at the Laramie Plains Civic Center’s Gryphon Theatre located on 710 East Garfield Street.
Founder and Producing Artistic Director of Relative Theatrics, Anne Mason, states, “We have had similar events in the past with Chalk n’ Cheese catering, but they have occurred downtown at the Chalk n’ Cheese storefront. This year we are hosting the fundraiser at the LPCC Gryphon Theatre, which allows us to accommodate larger attendance numbers and to give exclusive backstage tours to attendees.”
Chalk n’ Cheese will still be providing an array of wines, cheeses, meats, and other charcuterie platters for event attendees to enjoy. Attendees can also expect a silent auction, the big ticket auction item being a private gourmet dinner for ten from supreme chef Cathy Harokopis. Along with the auction, there will be sneak peek performances from the Relative Theatrics upcoming season.
Mason is excited to share information at this event about the company’s new education program called Play/Write, in which Relative Theatrics teaching artists are working with 5th graders at Linford and Spring Creek elementary schools to develop literacy skills and learn to write their own plays. Eight of these plays will then be performed by trained theatre artists in a community showcase next spring.
Tickets to the season kick-off are $35 and can be purchased at relativetheatrics.com. If community members want to purchase season tickets at the same time, they can bundle the purchase of a fundraiser ticket and season tickets for $70 (saving $10). Further questions can be directed to Anne Mason at amason@relativetheatrics.com.
