University of Wyoming Theatre and Dance students will be performing in a production of “The Wolves,” by playwright Sarah DeLappe opening this Thursday, March 3rd. Featuring nine young women actresses who form a high school girls indoor soccer team called The Wolves, and the play follows the girls as they deal with social pressures, teenage gossip, and real world hardships all while stretching before their big games.
Performances will be on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights starting at 7:30pm, as well as Sunday afternoon starting at 3:00pm in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts Studio Theater on campus. The play is produced through the Associated Students of the Performing Arts (ASOPA) student organization, meaning it has a full student cast, a student director, and student stage manager. All design aspects can also be credited to students including the lighting, set, props, costumes, and sound.
Through the rehearsal process which started last January, the actresses of “The Wolves” have learned the basics of soccer playing and soccer drills which they incorporate throughout the play using soccer balls. The set consists of a green turf along with a full soccer net and stadium lights all set up inside the black box theater.
