Everyone beware, winter weather is here. As the weather turns, roads become snow-filled and icy, so it is important to keep your eyes on the road and stay alert to all of your surroundings. Gloomy weather can quickly become hazardous making it important to always be prepared for an emergency. 

On Thursday, Nov. 23rd, a crash occurred eastbound on I80 headed towards Cheyenne. The crash occurred on the eastbound side around milepost 324. The crash involved roughly 20 vehicles and ultimately closed down the roadways both eastbound and westbound by 4 in the evening, closing the roads for the remainder of the evening. Busses provided from the Albany County School District transported families to the fairgrounds as crew worked hard to clear up the roadway. Thanksgiving meals were donated to the folks hunkered down at the fairgrounds. We want to give a big thank you to everyone who worked hard on thanksgiving and helped out with the accident and in these families’ time of need.

During the 48 hours surrounding Thanksgiving, the Wyoming Highway Patrol Troopers braved the storm as they investigated roughly 125 crashes, cleared 64 road hazards, assisted 145 stranded motorists, and responded to hundreds of calls for service ensuring safe travels during this snowy holiday season.
