Laramie Interfaith has been awarded $100,300 from Rocky Mountain Power’s Blue Sky program participants to support the installation of solar panels at its facility. The money will cover 80% of the installation cost, and construction is expected to begin in Spring 2024.

The Blue Sky program gives Rocky Mountain Power customers the option to match all or part of their energy use with renewable energy. Through the Blue Sky Block option, participants also support qualifying, renewable energy projects for community-serving organizations.

“Receiving the Blue Sky award from Rocky Mountain Power is another giant step towards ensuring a sustainable future for our work,” said Josh Watanabe, Executive Director of Laramie Interfaith. “Very early on, our board had planned to install solar on our, back-then, new building as another goal and step in line with our capital campaign goals of reducing the costs of operations so that we can continue to focus on supporting our community.”

Watanabe said that Laramie Interfaith is incredibly grateful to Rocky Mountain Power and all of the Blue Sky customers who help support the program.

The solar panels will help Laramie Interfaith combat food insecurity and homelessness in the Laramie community. The organization provides a variety of services, including a food pantry, soup kitchen, and homeless shelter.

“We are excited to partner with Rocky Mountain Power and the Blue Sky program to make solar energy a reality for Laramie Interfaith,” said Watanabe. “This project will help us reduce our operating costs and invest more resources into our programs and services.”
