The University of Wyoming Athletics Department unveiled its ambitious plans to revamp the West Side of War Memorial Stadium in a public awareness campaign announced on November 7th. Thanks to a substantial investment from the Wyoming Legislature and $20 million in private funding, the “Restore the War” project is set to transform the stadium.

The project will kick off after the conclusion of the 2023 football season and will be divided into two phases. Phase one will see a complete reconstruction of the lower west side, with key improvements including:

  • The addition of around 3,000 new chairback seats with cup holders and more legroom.
  • New bleacher-style seating with increased width and legroom.
  • A revamped public concourse with additional entrance/exit points for better traffic flow.
  • Enhanced ADA access to the west side of the stadium.
  • Improved concourse and stadium lighting for better visibility and safety.
  • Newly constructed restrooms, concession stands, and a team store.

Phase two, starting after the 2024 season, will focus on upgrading the War Memorial Stadium Media and Broadcast Center, enhancing media accommodations, and improving gameday efficiency. Additionally, a new premium club area will be constructed between the lower and upper west sides of the stadium. This premium area will feature 216 loge-style seats with outdoor and climate-controlled indoor club experiences, including premium food and drink options and a full-service bar. The project aims to create an exceptional pregame experience for fans. Completion of phase two is expected before the 2025 football season.

Aside from the stadium improvements, the project will also fund a new swimming and diving facility, with more details to be revealed in the future.
