Are you looking to get out of the house? Are you looking for something inventive to get your gears turning? PokeBot v6.02 deals with “pokes doing strange things with technology”. Technology can be a marvelous and whimsical think to watch as the magic lights up the room. At the University of Wyoming, the Innovation Network is hosting the PokeBot v6.02 event where technology takes the stage at the Make.IT Makerspace. Technology makes the unexpected a reality with the Pokes in action.
At the PokeBot v6.02 event, there will be live presentations, music and tons of networking to get your feet in the water. The first presentation will be Dr. Zhaojie Zhang, the Director, Integrated Microscopy Core in the department of Zoology and Physiology. Kicking off the PokeBot v6.02 event is Dr. Zhang discussing 3D Printing for Microscopic Applications in Biology. This will include the exploration of fusion of microscopy and 3D printing. Dr. Zhang will demonstrate how this innovative approach revolutionizes biological research by enabling rapid and cost-effective customization of microscope designs. The next presentation will be given by Graduate Student Kimberly Quincy discussing 3D Printed Larynx. This presentation will be hands-on in an interactive session, where participants will have the opportunity to explore the 3D-printed Larynx models, while gaining valuable insights into addressing voice disorders through innovative educational approaches using makerspace tools and technologies.
A presentation by Undergraduate Student Nathan Harris will dive into the work of making for speed using FSAE Car Construction. Harris will share his expertise in leveraging makerspace technology to accelerate the construction of Formula SAE (FSAE) cars while highlighting the fusion of engineering prowess with hands-on fabrication techniques. The next presentation will be Undergraduate Student Jacob Hepler. Helper will discuss Plant Monitoring Systems through the Internet of Things with Arduino and more. This presentation will discover the intersection of loT and plant biology as Helper unveils his project on developing a sophisticated plant monitoring system using Arduino and other cutting-edge technologies. The last presentation will be from Undergraduate Student Olivia Buss as she discusses the way reworking old projects with new mediums is effective. Buss will share her journey into the realm of creativity and showcase her innovative approach to revitalizing old projects through the integration of new mediums, focusing on stained glass coaster creation.
Not only will there be great presentations at the PokeBot v6.02 event, there will also be live music by DJ Osvinci, providing ambient and lo-fi beats for networking and exploration of all thing’s technology. This event will be hosted by Jane Crayton as the driving force behind the University of Wyoming’s Innovation Network. Come immerse yourself in the vibrant ecosystem of technological innovation in the Make.It Makerspace located in the Information Technology Building Atrium this Tuesday evening, April 23rd from 6 to 9.
